On 6 December 2010 the BBC news website highlighted the research of Dr. Penny Bernstock of UEL’s London East Research Institute (LERI) on the housing legacy of London 2012

Living on the Olympic Park: Will dreams become reality?

We should be cautiously optimistic about London 2012’s housing legacy.

The financial and reputational risk associated with failure will ensure that government and agencies will work to secure a positive outcome.

However, there are a number of serious challenges that need to be overcome in order to ensure that London 2012 delivers an inclusive housing legacy that acts as an example of best practice in urban regeneration.

There is a tendency to associate the housing legacy with the new housing built on the Olympic Park. Read more…
