Over the summer, the DCMS (Department of Culture, Media and Sport) published two reports pertaining to London’s Olympic legacy.
The first was the methodology outline of the Meta-Evaluation of the Impacts and Legacy of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. The meta-evaluation is being conducted by a consortium led by Grant Thornton, including Ecorys and Loughborough University, with a steering group of Olympic experts, including UEL’s Dr. Iain MacRury. The next report is expected soon, and will establish baselines and the counterfactual.
The second report examines International Comparisons of Public Engagement in Culture and Sport and finds that both cultural attendance and sports participation are higher in GB than the rest of Europe.
