The University of East London is seeking a highly-motivated Research Assistant to lead on the organisation of an international academic conference at UEL in 2013 which will focus on the impacts of Mega-Events on host cities, looking back at the 2012 London Games and forward to Sochi, Rio and beyond. You will also support the work of UEL’s Olympic Research Group and assist with the organisation of internal seminars and the generation of discussion papers.
With a PhD in a relevant social science discipline you will have experience of undertaking social research in the urban context. A background in Urban Studies, Olympic Studies or inter-disciplinary research related to urban social change is highly desirable. Excellent communication and IT skills are essential together with experience of organising academic events such as seminars and conferences. Knowledge of quantitative research, including the analysis of large data sets, is desirable.
